Nuke ‘Em Don

December 27th, 2016

Apparently President-Elect Donald Trump has jumped the gun and has already had his presidential portrait painted. This stunning likeness by artist Frank Hoffman ran in today’s edition of the Los Angeles Times.

Mr. Trump and Russia’s Vladimir Putin have at least one thing in common: They both want to resume the nuclear arms race. By shear coincidence, while my brother Bob and my sister-in-law Karen were cleaning at my mom’s house they stumbled across a box of old paper ephemera, virtually a time capsule of rare goodies. One discovery was a 1950 government pamphlet on what to do in case of an atomic bomb attack in Los Angeles. It’s a pretty amazing artifact from the “Duck-and-Cover” days of nuclear information.

I’ve scanned it and am going to share it with you over the next few days leading up to our Happy New Year. If you click on each image they’ll become larger.
