Predator – Original Design

Tuesday, May 16th, 2017

I was rummaging through my archives, digging up art to include in a large career retrospective coming out next year from Insight Editions, when I came across the last design I created when I was in the process of designing the first Predator for the movie Predator (when I was working on it it was called Hunter). It was my pal Rick Baker who brought me on to this John McTiernan-helmed film project. The creature went through a whole series of changes before getting to this. It was someone on Stan Winston‘s talented crew (Winston’s crew ended up sculpting and fabricating the creature) that added that cool four-pronged mouth to the creature. I wish I’d thought of that!

I’m going to put this historic baby up for sale. The image size is 16″ x 11.25″ on a 20″ x 15″ board. The unframed piece is (airbrushed) ink, watercolor and colored pencils on extra heavyweight cold press illustration board. This 1985 piece of cinema history is priced at $6500. I’ll pay the domestic shipping. There’s sales tax, though, if you live in California.
